Abstract

The empirical study carried out in the last third of 2012 focused on the analysis of the self-employed individuals in the field of culture in Slovenia. Special emphasis was put the examination of their survival strategies. The qualitative part of research is based on nethnography, online interviews and face-to-face interviews. The quantitative part of the study is based on the online questionnaire survey. The results indicate several serious inadequacies of the current national support system for the self-employed in culture. The improvements should take into account specific occupational characteristics as well as the working conditions of the self-employed and contribute to their increased social welfare rights.
