Sophie's WorldAbstract
ln this contribution, the author of fers a description of the book Zofia's World, by the Norwegian professor of philosophy, Jostein Gaarder, a work which is treated in literary theory mainly as an interesting post-modernist novel, since it would appear to be a presentation of the history of philosophy in the popular form of a novel. The author of this paper, however, sees far more in the book, which is indeed an exceptional philosophy textbook for independent study. It is, really, a correspondence course in philosophy, as is also reflected by the distinctive outer design of the book. The distinctive feature of Zofia's World lies in the fact that the connective text is interwoven with chapters on philosophy in a wholly life-like way.
