Who Decides about What People Learn?

Abstract

The author speaks of the importance of an adult education program based on people, their needs and their interests. When we plan our own education, we start with our own goals. Only people who set their own goals - i.e adults who finished at least secondary school, which is also the limit of functionalliteracy- are capable of creating a program for their own training. The author introduces a number of additional methods for adult education: individual program planning (the student plans his education himself), team programming (multi-disciplinary approach to different fields), and program planning together with an expert who advises and helps the adult student to find the right direction. The author also includes description of the program planning  process when the andragog creates a program. The author's conclusion is that more and more people plan their personal educational program and this fact must be taken into account by adult education planners.
