The article aims to show that the main strength of community education lies in the fact that it enables people to take care of their interests and requirements in the most relevant manner. By community education we mean all educational activities in support of the work of organizations, groups and individuals in a particular local community. Having realized its significance, governments set general rules and regulations, but left their implementation to individual regions, districts and communes. Through community education people will transform from passive into active, autonomous individuals, who wish to take an active part in the care for themselves and the community in which they live. This type of education, with an important social function, is thus directed towards common work for development and higher quality of life in the community. It deals with social learning in the process of solving individual and collective problems and with social responsibility in the contemporary society.Metrics
