Life-long Education between Vision and Utopia - Memorandum

Abstract

The Memorandum on life-long education, adopted by the Council of Europe, presupposes for Europeans almost incredible possibilities for life-long education and its permanent upgrading. However, the Memorandum does not say who is to be in charge of the education. Some ideas in the Memorandum remind us of the already forgotten ideas of the leading European humanists and ideologists (socialists) from the 1960's and early seventies. Ideas which unfortunately have only remained ideas. Financial circumstances in our country (managers have strong liberalist-capitalist mentality) do not allow the »Memorandum ideas« to come true. Nevertheless, there are some possibilities for its partial acceptance.
