Globalisation is a process that characterises virtually all spheres of social life, including education and more specifically the university and its part-time study as a form of adult education. Internationalisation is an essential component of the university (besides academic freedom, autonomy, collegial leadership, and elitism) which has faded over time with national boundaries. Every historical period has left its mark on the university and its international dimension, so the modern process of re-internationalisation of the university must be understood in the context of today’s neoliberal motives. The university will have to endeavour to maintain its constituent element – internationalisation, and it will have to strive and defend its academic roots against neoliberal market influences (e.g., GATS), which in addition to questionable quality also bring about a worrying academic imperialism.Metrics
