Abstract

Results of the work of the group for lepidopterology at Student Research Camp Šempas 98’ are presented. Altogether 92 species of butterflies were recorded between 23.7.1998 and 31.7.1998 from 34 localities. 9 recorded species are included in Atlas of endangered butterflies of Slovenia. Apart from species registration and characterisation of their ecological requirements, a faunistic comparison between geographically and geologically well defined areas was done. The most diverse butterfly fauna has been observed in the area north of Vipavska dolina where south-European and north-European faunistic elements meet. The most endangered habitats are lowland wet or marsh meadows at the bottom of Vipava valley.
