El campo semántico del parentesco primario en El Quijote

En el Quijote el campo semántico del parentesco es más que modesto y, aparte de eso, los términos que lo constituyen son moderadamente utilizados. La constatación no es sorprendente; al contrario, es esperada: la novela de Cervantes no es una saga de una ramificada familia, es la narración de los acontecimientos que experimentan los dos héroes suyos, el caballero andante y su escudero. El primero no tiene familia: don Quijote mismo dice no estar casado ni haber pensado nunca en casarse (II,22). Así, hay sólo dos términos del parentesco que estrictamente le atañen a él, y son de uso constante aunque no muy frecuente: tío y sobrina. Esta aparece desde las primeras líneas de la novela con una sobrina que no llegaba a los veinte /años/ y continúa usándose a través de toda la novela, cuando don Quijote, por la sobrina siempre intitulado respetuosamente señor tío, vuestra merced, señor tío, I,6, y passim, está en casa y conversa con ella. Una sola vez, en la carta que atañe a los pollinos de dar a Sancho, escribe don Quijote señora sobrina, donde hay que ver una tendencia cómica.
