Andrej Blatnik, escritor, traductor y editor, nació en Ljubljana en 1963. Es uno de los narradores más destacados de «la joven prosa eslovena» «la generación de los sesenta», términos con los que actualmente los críticos y teóricos literarios se refieren a los autores nacidos en la década de los sesenta. Escribe relatos breves, novelas y ensayos. Sus obras más conocidas son Los ramilletes para Adán se están marchitando (Šopki za Adama venijo, 1983, relato breve), Las antorchas y las lágrimas (Plamenice in solze, 1987, novela), Las biografías de los anónimos (Biografije brezimenih, 1989, relato breve), Cambios de piel (Menjave kož, 1990, relatos breves), El tao del amor (Tao ljubezni, 1990, novela), La ley del deseo (Zakon Zelje, 2001, relatos breves).
