El poeta y traductor Tomaž Šalamun, nacido en 1941 en Zagreb, es uno de los representantes más destacados de la vanguardia de los años sesenta. Su obra poética se ha iniciado con un abandono formal y conceptual de la tradición literaria eslovena, sustituyendo la metrica y el estilo prevaleciente de composición por un verso libre, en apariencia arbitrario, caprichoso, espontaneo, sujeto a una 1ógica propia, e su poesía, marcada por el atrevimiento, las asociaciones, las impresiones, la conjunción de elementos disímiles y lenguajes dispares, delata cierta deuda originaria con el dadaismo, el surrealismo y el arte pop, ha logrado perfilarse no obstante como una voz autónoma y distintiva, conquistando un lugar privilegiado y clave en el desaro llo de la literatura eslovena contemporánea.
