Monumento a la palabra, máxima obra gramatical y sintáctica de la lengua castellana, una catedral, un palacio enorme, monumento lexicografico de la historia cultural de la lengua española, y, según Gabriel Garcia Márquez, una novela de la palabra, son sólo algunas palabras usadas últimamente para definir el singular Diccionario de construcción y régimen de la lengua castellana, o, más brevemente, el Diccionario Cuervo. El Diccionario de construcción y régimen de la fengua castellana ( 1500 ejemplares en su primera edición) consta de ocho elegantes e impresionantes volumenes, un excelente trabajo de la lmprenta Patriotica del Instituto Caro y Cuervo de Yerbabuena. Tiene un poco más de ocho mil páginas, nueve mil quinientas voces con mas de 600.000 ejemplos de dos mil escritores conocidos de la lengua española.
