Vsak izid slovnice angleškega jezika med učitelji vzbudi določeno pozornost. Tudi pričujoča slovnica – Cambridge Grammar of English – je ob izidu vzbudila veliko pozornosti in sprožila celo vrsto nasprotujočih si odzivov. Ne glede na vse gre za veličasten projekt velikega števila vrhunskih strokovnjakov, pri čemer sta glavna avtorja dva izjemno ugledna britanska jezikoslovca, ki sta besedilo ustvarjala skoraj sedem let. Vse kaže, da gre za eno najpomembnejših slovnic angleškega jezika doslej.
