The influence of selenium forms, soil type, pH value of the soil, and the type of the plant on the plant selenium uptake is described. The selenium content of cereals, cultivated in different countries, is rewieved. Cereals could be an important source of dietary selenium, especially when grown on the soil with high selenium concentrations, or on soils, containing selenium in the form easily available for plants.
