Journal History

The journal was established as Asian and African Studies (Azijske in afriške študije, AAŠ) in the year 1997, devoted to questions on Asian and African linguistics, cultures, and societies. To be able to focus more exclusively on questions pertaining to language, the editorial committee has decided to split the journal into two publications in 2010, AAŠ continuing as a journal devoted to culture and society of Asia and Africa, and Acta Linguistica Asiatica (ALA) as a new journal devoted to linguistics (questions of languages) in Asia.
