Povzetek

Članek obravnava budistično semantično teorijo apoha (dob. »izkjučitev«), s katero so budistični nominalisti poskušali razrešiti vprašanje statusa univerzalij (sāmānya) in abstraktnih entitet v sporih s svojimi nasprotniki, tj. metafizičnimi realisti. Koncept apoha metodološko temelji na dvojni negaciji, pri kateri se generični izraz X nanaša na vse entitete, ki niso ne-X. Prek tovrstne metode izključitve denimo vsega, kar ni krava, se je mogoče sklicevati na določeno kravo, ne da bi pri tem sprejeli obstoj univerzalnega pojma »krava«.
