CALL FOR PAPERS FOR THE JANUARY 2026 SPECIAL ISSUE "LATIN AMERICAN PERSPECTIVES ON ASIAN HUMANITIES" (Vol. XIV, No. 1)
We are pleased to announce a special section aimed at showcasing the scholarly work of Latin American Asianists, broadly defined. We extend a warm invitation to scholars based in or coming from Latin America who specialize in Asian philosophy, religion, or related fields within the Humanities and Social Sciences.
In line with the explicit focus on Latin American scholarship in this special section, we encourage contributors to reflect on the implications of examining their specialized topics within the unique context of the Latin American region, particularly in relation to the specific Latin American country in which the author resides/works or from which they are from. This reflective component may span the entirety of the paper or be concentrated in specific sections, such as the conclusion. Nevertheless, this element is anticipated to be an integral and thoughtful aspect of the submitted contribution.
We believe that this special section presents a distinctive academic opportunity. Latin America, as a region, currently experiences limited visibility within the realm of Asian Studies, and vice versa, the field of Asian Studies enjoys minimal representation within Latin American academic circles. This platform has the potential to address both aspects, fostering new avenues for academic inquiry. Furthermore, by presenting this content in English in the journal Asian Studies, we aim to disrupt the prevailing dynamics of English-speaking Asian Studies, which has traditionally been dominated by scholars from Europe and the USA.
The deadline for submissions is July 20, 2025 All submitted contributions will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Please note that prospective contributors should submit their papers through the Asian Studies (SCOPUS, Q1) journal's website: https://journals.uni-lj.si/as/about/submissions.
Kindly be advised that papers should be submitted in English, as it is the official language of the journal.
