Whoever wants to provide their students with a complete picture of Roman antiquity will soon realize that something is lacking in the existing curricula on culture and civilization. The essential elements are undoubtedly present, but to achieve the depth offered by the classical tradition, one needs to supplement the non-linguistic content, offering it in a meaningful, organized way within three or four years. The curriculum update proposed in this paper is intended to help standardize the teaching of culture and civilization across the country (as the language content already is). Undeniably one must never forget that we are talking about one thing – classical Roman antiquity; not forcefully separating the thematic strands but trying to integrate and link them into a single coherent whole that will delight both teacher and pupil.
