Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text is 1.5-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining, and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines. Where available, URLs/DOIs for the references have been provided. Example (journal article in the final list of references):

Cinque, Guglielmo. 2016. “A Source of Parametric Variation in the Lexicon.” Linguistica 56 (1): 83–92. https://doi.org/10.4312/linguistica.56.1.83-92.

  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed. No identifying information about the author(s) is included in the manuscript file (please also inspect the document properties in your word processor to remove such information). Submitter (author) information is collected separately, via the online submission form.

Author Guidelines

ELOPE, English Language Overseas Perspectives and Enquiries: Guidelines for Contributors

ELOPE publishes original research articles, studies and essays that address matters pertaining to the English language, literature, teaching and translation.

Submission of Manuscripts

Manuscripts should be submitted for blind review in electronic form using the Faculty of Arts (University of Ljubljana) OJS platform (http://revije.ff.uni-lj.si/elope/about/submissions). Only one contribution by the same author per volume will be considered. Each paper should be accompanied by abstracts in English and Slovene (not more than 150 words each) and keywords. Abstracts by non-native speakers of Slovene will be translated into Slovene by ELOPE. Please be sure to have a qualified native speaker proofread your English-language article. Suggested length of manuscripts is between 5,000 and 8,000 words.

Your submission should be anonymized - please do not include any identifying information in the manuscript file. Submitter (author) information is collected separately, via the online submission form.

Manuscript Style and Format

The manuscript should be in the following format:

  • title in English,
  • abstracts in English and Slovene,
  • the text should be divided into introduction; body of the paper (possibly subdivided); and conclusion.

The text should be preferably written in Word format (OpenOffice and RTF files are also acceptable). Please observe the following:

  • 12-point Times New Roman font size,
  • 2.5 cm page margins on all sides,
  • 1.5-point line spacing,
  • footnotes should be brief (up to 300 words per page; 10-point Times New Roman font size).

For resolving other practical style and formatting queries, please see the articles in the latest on-line issue (http://revije.ff.uni-lj.si/elope/issue/current). Please contact the technical editor with any additional enquiries.
