Precej vznemirjenja in vroče krvi je v zadnjih desetletjih povzročila zahteva po uvedbi klasične izgovarjave latinščine, t.j. zahteva, naj se latinščina izgovarja tako, kot so jo izgovarjali Rimljani v najvišjem vzponu svoje politične moči in kulturnega razvoja, v obdobju tako imenovane zlate in srebrne latinščine. Ker je zadeva precej aktualna in še zmerom vzburja duhove, je treba o njej spregovoriti nekoliko izčrpneje.
