Prevajanje besedil patrističnih avtorjev (zgodovinski pregled, principi in perspektive)Abstract
Antike si ne moremo predstavljati brez krščanstva in čeprav bi nekateri avtorji radi zarisali mejo med starim in srednjim vekom kar po ločnici, ki deli grško-rimsko tradicionalno verovanje od krščanstva, to praktično ni mogoče. Kar nekaj stoletij namreč spremljamo bolj ali manj napeto sobivanje teh dveh miselnosti. In ljudje, pa naj verujejo v Jupitra, Mitra, Eno ali Jezusa Kristusa, so -vsaj do določene mere, seveda - govorili isti jezik. In njihove književnosti so se prepletale in na neki način tudi medsebojno vplivale druga na drugo. Zato ni potrebno posebej upravičevati prisotnosti krščanskih avtorjev med tistimi antičnimi pisci, ki si zaslužijo prevode v sodobne jezike. Resnično zaskrbljujoča je statistika, po kateri je prevajanje iz latinščine v slovenščino prav na dnu lestvice, globoko pod japonščino in vštric z burmanščino.
