Ko se je moral apostol Pavel vpričo kralja Agripa zagovarjati zaradi zločinov, ki jih je bil njegov poslušalec zmožen razumeti, se je v svoji gotovosti glede zmage pri pravdi takoj na začetku zahvalil z besedami: Mislim, da sem lahko srečen, ker se moram zaradi vsega, kar mi Judje očitajo, danes zagovarjati pred tabo, kralj Agripa, saj temeljito poznaš vse judovske običaje in sporna vprašanja. Prej je namreč bral pri Izaiju: Srečen, kdor govori v ušesa nekoga, ki posluša in je vedel, da govornikove besede hasnejo toliko, kolikor je dojemljiv sodnikov razum. Zato se imam pri tem opravilu seveda tudi sam za srečnega, ker se bom vpričo izobraženih ušes zagovarjal pred neveščim jezikom, ki me obtožuje bodisi nevednosti bodisi lažnivosti, češ da tujega pisma nisem znal ali pa nisem hotel prav prevesti: prvo je napaka, drugo zločin.
