Georgios Seferiadis, rojen leta 1900 v bližini Smirne, je bolj znan pod psevdonimom Jorgos Seferis. Bil je eden izmed najpomembnejših grških in evropskih pesnikov 20. stoletja in je leta 1963 za svoj pesniški opus prejel Nobelovo nagrado. Je avtor desetih pesniških zbirk, za življenja pa je izdal tudi tri zbirke literarnih esejev, med katere sodi tudi lirični potopis s kraja antičnega Apolonovega svetišča v Delfih. V njih opise pokrajine povezuje s humanistično refleksijo o antični mitologiji, geografska imena pa navaja včasih v njihovi antični in včasih v sodobni obliki. Antični Delfi in sodobni, turistični Delfi pri njem soobstajajo in se zlivajo v simbolično celoto.
