Izvleček

V članku je opisana vloga in namen nacionalne bibliografije v sodobnem pomenu in kratka zgodovina nacionalnih bibliografij. Posebej je obravnavana problematika vrst gradiva, specifika elektronskih publikacij in problem selekcije nasploh. V celoti sta vključena prevoda priporočil Mednarodnega kongresa o nacionalnih bibliografijah v Parizu 1977 in Mednarodne konference o nacionalnih bibliografskih servisih v Kopenhagnu 1998.
