IzvlečekPodročje bibliografskih odnosov je zelo zanimivo, vendar še neraziskano, zato je strokovnih prispevkov o tej temi malo. Čeprav se je že Panizzi zavedal pomembnosti odnosov v katalogu, so se teoretične in empirične raziskave na tem področju pričele v 70-tih letih 20. stoletja. Ugotavljajo, da bibliografski odnosi v katalogu večinoma niso popisani ali samo posredno. Ta pomanjkljivost sedanjega kataloga povzroča težave pri iskanju in nenatančnost iskanja.
