Povzetek

IZVLEČEK

Članek podaja pregled področja vizualizacije informacij, pri čimer se osredotoča na njegovo uporabo v sistemih za poizvedovanje. Predstavljeni so temelji vizualizacije informacij in razlogi, ki napeljujejo k uporabi vizualizacije tudi v sistemih za poizvedovanje. Ob tem je predstavljena izbira prave vizualizacijske tehnike, za boljšo ponazoritev pa je prikazanih nekaj primerov uporabe. Posebna pozornost je posvečena problemom evalvacije in dosedanjim rezultatom implementacije vizualizacije v sistemih za poizvedovanje. Čeprav študije ne dokazujejo, da bi bilo poizvedovanje bolj uspešno z uporabo vizualizacije, se zdi, da raziskovalci še vedno verjamejo v moč in prednosti vizualizacije in vztrajajo pri iskanju tehnike, ki bi to dokazala. Avtorici zaključujeta, da s spremembami na spletu in napredkom sistemov za poizvedovanje morda šele prihaja čas za vizualizacijo informacij, ki bo izpolnila dolgoletna pričakovanja.
