Prof. Dr Miha Humar became president of the International Research Group on Wood Protection IRG/WP

At the 56th Annual Meeting of the International Research Group on Wood Protection (IRG/WP), which took place from 22 to 26, June 2025 in Yokohama, Japan, Prof. Dr Miha Humar from the University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty, Department of Wood Science and Technology, was elected president for a three-year term. This article introduces the IRG/WP Group and its history, organization and international significance. It describes the participation of Slovenian scientists in this association, which has a long and important history. The work and scientific achievements of Prof. Dr Miha Humar and the significance for Slovenia that a Slovenian scientist has taken over the leadership of this prestigious worldwide association are also described.
