The aim of this study is to carry out a systematic analysis of tweets published by Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen during the 2022 presidential election campaign. We performed the analysis on textual, syntactic, discourse and thematic levels. The results show slight differences on the textual and syntactic level but major differences on the discourse level (value judgments, modal verbs, emphasis) as well as on the thematic level. The proposed methodology allows linguists without computational skills to obtain results that are quantifiable and at the same time interpretable using traditional linguistic categories.
