Brief History of Literary Translation from Spanish into Slovenian

Based on a detailed study of bibliographic sources, the article provides a concise panorama of literary translation from Spanish to Slovenian from its beginnings in the 19th century to the present day. It presents the translations of the most significant translated works of Spanish and Latin American literature and their translators, and sheds light on the historical-cultural circumstances that in certain periods contributed to a more pronounced interest in specific literary currents and authors, whether Spanish or Latin American. It also notes the gaps that should be filled in order to offer Slovenian readers a deeper and more systematic knowledge of the Hispanic literature. The panorama concludes with an overview of a selection of translation research by Slovenian experts in this field.
