Kruh and Pane ('Bread')
From Slovenian Phraseology to Italian Phraseology

The contribution addresses phraseological expressions related to the semantic field of food. Starting from Slovene phrasemes containing the element “kruh” (‘bread’), the respective Italian equivalents (contrastive phraseology) are illustrated. Particular attention is also given to issues inherent in translating such expressions. The meanings of the various phrasemes emerge from an analysis based on the tools of cultural semantics (linguoculturology in the Russian tradition, ethnolinguistics). Similarly, the approach to the teaching and learning of phraseology is examined, with particular emphasis on transmitting knowledge related to the culture under study. Combining these approaches in an interdisciplinary way it is possible for students to develop a good linguistic-cultural competence (L2 phraseodidactics).
