Climate change and sustainability have become significant parts of everyday discourse, encouraging the use and development of terminology and phraseology related to the challenges that the modern society is currently facing. This study focuses on phrasemes used in the context of sustainability and the increasingly widespread metaphoric collocations containing the adjectives referring to green. The goal is to analyze phrasemes with the element referring to green and those related to greenery (e.g., grass, leaf, tree, forest) within the lexicon of Croatian, German, and English. After analyzing their meanings, the study examines their usage in corpora available in the tool SketchEngine for each of the three languages. The analysis aims to address the following questions: What meanings are associated with phrasemes containing the constituent green and those related to greenery? Have their meanings been adapted to the discourse on sustainability? What do metaphorical collocations with the adjective green signify, and are they linked to the concept of sustainability? Finally, the study identifies the differences and similarities across the three languages.
