Il toponimo friulano NimisAbstract
Il contributo si concentra sull'origine del toponimo Nimis, località a nord di Udine, il cui nome è attestato per la prima volta in Paolo Diacono. Per quanto riguarda l'etimo, l'unico in circolazione risulta esser quello proposto da F. Schürr (1930), secondo il quale il toponimo friulano risalirebbe ad una forma celtica affine alla denominazione in età classica della città di Nîmes (provenzale Nemse), cio è Nemausus. Contrariamente a tale interpretazione, l'autore raccoglie indizi a favore dell'eventualità che il toponimo sia di origine slava, riconducendolo ad un prototipo paleoslavo němici. La forma Nimis sarebbe il risultato della 'friulanizzazione' del lessema slavo presente nel dialetto sloveno della valle del Torre situata a poca distanza dalla località friulana in questione.Downloads
