Écrire un compte rendu sur une reuvre ayant trait à Jules Gilliéron me fait néces sairement penser à mes études de français à l'Université de Ljubljana après la deu xième guerre mondiale. À cette époque-là, L'Atlas Linguistique de la France était déjà accessible aux étudiants. Les professeurs de français de la jeune université, née à peine en 1919, sentaient le besoin, pour les études de linguistique française, d' avoir à leur disposition cette reuvre qui, évidemment, avait déjà une renommée remar quable au-delà des frontières strictement romanes. Les autorités culturelles françaises étaient très favorables à la nouvelle université dans une petite ville méconnue OU, mieux, oubliée depuis l'époque lointaine des Provinces illyriennes. Pour s'en assu rer il suffit de rappeler le nom du lecteur de français envoyé en 1921 pour encourager les études du français Lucien Tesnière.
