Das zu besprechende Werk setzt sich mit dem grundlegenden Problem der Op position zwischen Sprachrealität und Stilisierung im deutschen Drama der siebziger Jahre auseinander. Stilisierung wird im Werk als gezielte Verwendung der Sprachre alität, als gezielter Einsatz von Mitteln definiert (45, 97, 166, 396). Anne Betten be handelt Dramen verschiedener Autoren der BRD, Österreichs und der Schweiz. Un ter dem allgemeinen Oberbegriff "Drama" versteht sie aile Gattungen der Theater kunst. Sie vergleicht künstlich/künstlerisch gestaltete Dramentexte (124, Anm. 341). miteinander und stellt sie authentischen Transkriptionen gegenüber, die dem Frei burger Corpus gesprochener deutscher Standardsprache entnommen sind (364). Im Gegensatz zu einigen anderen, vorwiegend pragmatisch orientierten Studien aus der letzten Zeit (75) ist es das Anliegen der vorliegenden, "auf den dramatischen Code konzentrierten" (75) Arbeit, zu ermitteln, "wie nahe diese simulierte Sprechsprache (d. h. die fiktive Dramensprache, S. B., 45) an die authentische Sprache heran kommt und worin (und warum) sie von ihr abweicht" (80). (Es wird jedoch auch darauf verwiesen, daß die oben erwahnte Orientierung 'Sprachrealismus versus Stilisierung' kein Gegensatzpaar darstellt (396). So ist z. B. von dem Sprachrealismus und der Stilisierung das Lokalkolorit zu unterscheiden (199), wobeidas Lokalkolorit vor allem im Bereich der Phonetik, Morphologie und Lexik sich bemerkbar macht, während Stilisierung vor allem syntaktisch geprägt ist.)
