La quantité en islandais modern, un fait regionalAbstract
En 1910 le chercheur norvégien Marius Haegstad posa 1a question de l' existence de dialectes en Islande. Cette question n'était pas sans intérêt pour la linguistique scandinave. Parmi les 1angues scandinaves, tres fractionnées en dialectes, l' islandais constituait effectivement une exception par sa remarquable homogénénité. L'islandais moderne qui est une forme évo1uée de l' ancient islandais, lequel à son tour est une forme parlée du norvégien ancien (Benediktsson 1964, p. 25), se distinguait sur ce point nettement de la langue dont il était issu. Étant donné la grande division dialectale en Norvège l' homogénéité de l' islandais moderne ne cessait de surprendre les chercheurs et constituait en quelque sorte une énigme. L' intérêt des chercheurs pour savoir exactement, si l'homogénéité de la langue moderne était effectivement aussi grande comme on le pensait ou si après tout il n' y avait pas des différences qu' on pouvait bel et bien appeler dialectales, était par conséquent bien justifié.
